Leading orthopaedic charity The Horder Centre has launched a celebrity shoe auction appeal to support its life-changing services, with a little help from TV personality Kaddy Lee-Preston (pictured). The well-known weathergirl is among celebrities supporting the auction in aid of the Centre in Crowborough which every year helps thousands of people across the South East improve their quality of life and regain their independence.
Several big names from the world of sport and showbiz including Ana Ivanovic, Norman Cook, Jayne Torvill, Dame Vera Lynn, Lewis Moody, David Stockdale, Tommy Elphick and Brighton author Peter James have already donated shoes to the appeal.
The public will have the chance to bid for the shoes during a special week-long eBay auction starting on July 8, and by doing so will raise money to create several new woodland trails which will be built in the hospital grounds. One of the trails will be adapted for the disabled and another will have outdoor gym equipment and both will be open, not only to patients, but to local schools and the community.
Kaddy said: “I am thrilled to launch the Horder Centre Celebrity Shoe Auction to help make a real difference to the thousands of people, young and old, who are left crippled by arthritis and other orthopaedic conditions.

“Most of us take activities like walking the dog or riding a bike completely for granted but for those with arthritis, these every day pleasures are impossible. I would therefore urge everyone to take part in the appeal by bidding for some of the amazing shoes that have been donated.
“And to all you celebrities out there, we would love to receive a pair of your shoes to help raise as much as possible for this incredibly worthy cause. As a charity the Centre needs constant support to maintain its life-changing services.”
