Cobb PR client, Welbeing – a leading provider of telecare and telehealth solutions, welcomed a delegation of health professionals from Shanghai and a BBC News team this week.
The visit was organised by Brighton University as part of a course looking at UK community health care and so, Cobb PR Director Chris Gape, arranged media coverage.
The 16 strong group included consultants, doctors, nurses and health administrators came to find out how lifeline technology can help people in China.
Due in part to their one child policy, China has major problems supporting an aging population; a problem made even worse by a lack of social care services.

Welbeing help people to remain living independently in their own homes through the use of telecare technology.
The cost effective service puts customers in touch with specially trained call operators, 24 hours a day, and gives friends and family peace of mind.
The operators are able to monitor the well-being of each customer and a carer, the family or emergency services are then immediately alerted in the event of an emergency.
Managing Director of Welbeing, Mark Bannister (pictured), said: “We were delighted to welcome the delegation from China and show them how telecare is making a difference in the UK.
“Our home monitors and alerts are highly sophisticated and can detect everything from someone who hasn’t returned to their bed, to a customer who has suffered a fall.”
Welbeing is now also embracing the use of telehealth technology.
Telehealth allows specially trained staff to remotely monitor a person’s vital signs such as blood pressure, weight, glucose levels and pulse, helping to prevent unnecessary hospital visits and re-admissions.
If the data falls outside normal levels an alarm is triggered which can be immediately responded to by either the response centre or designated health carers.
Earlier this year the government announced a £180 million life sciences strategy that will draw on the use of telehealth and look to providers, such as Welbeing, to roll out large scale delivery programmes.
Mark added: “Welbeing was created six years ago when local housing, health and social care providers recognised that telecare, telehealth and other assistive technologies would have an important part to play in helping an ageing population lead independent and healthy lifestyles.
“We have invested heavily in the development and promotion of leading edge solutions and today support over 40,000 people in the UK.”
