Some 40 members of the business community celebrated the launch of the Eastbourne and District Business Lunch Club at the Grand Hotel, Eastbourne on Friday, July 13.
The club is the latest venture of the Business Lunch Club Group which was set up by Cobb PR and EMC in 2008 and has established regular networking events in Brighton and Hove and Crawley and Gatwick.
Like its sister clubs, the Eastbourne Business Lunch Club aims to provide a place where business owners can meet to discuss topical issues and share problems every month.
Tim Cobb, managing director of Cobb PR and Business Lunch Club founder said: “I believe that the success of the clubs is because we have a restricted membership based on the size of the company so members share many common challenges. People also like the relaxed, informal atmosphere and the opportunity to forge business relationships in a low-pressure environment.
“The launch of the Eastbourne & District Business Lunch Club is an exciting chance to bring this winning formula to another important centre of commerce in Sussex and I look forward to welcoming new members from the local business community. If you run a business with a turnover of £2 million plus, or employ 10 people, the club may be perfect for you.”
As well as providing a networking forum, the club has a keynote speaker at each event. These include former Olympic athlete Sally Gunnell, polar explorer Tom Avery, the Governor of the Bank of England Mervyn King, as well as key local figures such as Robin Eldridge, Governor of Lewes Prison and Phil Frier, Principal of City College Brighton and Hove.
The Eastbourne and District Business Lunch Club will meet on the second Friday of every month from September 14 at the Grand Hotel. Club sponsors include Barclays Bank, OBC The Accountants, Gaby Hardwicke Solicitors, FRP Advisory (insolvency specialists) and Identity (signage and printing).
