More than 200 of Brighton & Hove’s leading businesses turned out in force to help raise more than £30,000 for the charity Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis (OMS).

Charity trustees Tony and Linda Bloom brought a touch of celebrity glamour to the lunchtime event at the Amex Community Stadium last Friday (May 19).

Tony delighted Brighton fans and spoke about the club’s amazing season, while Linda spoke movingly about her MS diagnosis and how the charity had helped her find a clear path to recovery.

Event organiser Tim Cobb of also spoke of the great work of the charity and called on the business community to help spread the word of hope and encouragement to people struggling with the impact of the disease.

Tim said: “It was an amazing event and I was staggered by the generosity of the audience, who gave a total £31, 370.

“MS touches the lives of so many people and I encourage everybody to promote the work of OMS, which shows that there is light at the end of a sometimes very dark tunnel,” Tim said.

Auction prizes were donated by international best-selling crime writer Peter James, Brighton & Hove Albion FC, Porsche Mid-Sussex and some of the city’s finest hotels and restaurants.
